At Westwood Academy, we are committed to developing confident, respectful and responsible young people who are prepared for life beyond education.
Through our curriculum, daily interactions and wider opportunities, we actively promote Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development alongside the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
We believe every pupil has the right to feel safe, valued and respected. We encourage pupils to take responsibility for their actions, make positive choices and contribute positively to school life and the wider community.

Democracy
Pupils are encouraged to express their views, share opinions and take part in decision-making.
We listen to pupil voice and provide opportunities for young people to influence aspects of school life. This helps pupils understand that everyone has the right to be heard and that their views can make a difference.
The rule of law
Clear boundaries, routines and expectations help pupils understand the importance of rules and the impact of their choices.
Through restorative approaches and positive behaviour support, we help pupils recognise their responsibilities and develop respect for laws that protect individuals and communities.
Individual liberty
We support pupils to make informed choices, develop independence and build resilience.
Pupils learn about their rights and responsibilities, how to manage risk safely and how to pursue their aspirations within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Mutual respect
Respect underpins all relationships at Westwood Academy.
We expect pupils and staff to treat one another with kindness, dignity and consideration. Positive relationships help pupils develop empathy, self-awareness and respect for others.
Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs
