Ready to learn

School Uniform

At Westwood Academy, our uniform is simple, practical and designed to help pupils feel comfortable, confident and ready to learn.

We want every pupil to feel included and able to take part fully in school life. Our approach allows for appropriate personal choice while maintaining clear expectations around presentation, safety and suitability for the school day.

Our uniform

Pupils should wear:

  • Black trousers, smart jeans, plain black joggers, leggings or a black skirt.
  • White shirt, T-shirt or polo shirt.
  • Plain black jumper or cardigan, without logos.
  • Trainers, shoes or boots that are suitable for the school day.

Skirts should be no more than 2cm above the knee.

Please avoid

The following items are not suitable for school:

  • Ripped jeans.
  • Cropped, vest or low-cut tops.
  • Transparent leggings or clothing with prominent logos.
  • Hoodies.
  • High heels, sliders, Crocs, Ugg slippers or flip-flops.
  • Smart watches.
  • False or acrylic nails.
  • Large pendants, loose jewellery or jewellery with protruding stones.

Pupils may wear small ear or nose studs. Hooped or hanging piercings should not be worn for safety reasons.

Working together

We ask pupils and families to support our uniform expectations so that everyone can learn safely and comfortably.

Where an outfit is not appropriate for school, staff may speak with the pupil and contact parents or carers to agree the best way forward.
