Belong Believe Become
Careers Education and the Gatsby Benchmarks
At Westwood Academy, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to develop aspirations, explore their interests and prepare successfully for their future. Through a personalised and inclusive approach to Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), we support pupils to make informed choices and develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for further education, employment and training.
Careers education is an integral part of our curriculum and personal development offer. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their starting points or previous experiences, have access to high-quality careers guidance and meaningful encounters with the world of work.
Our careers programme is underpinned by the eight Gatsby Benchmarks and is designed to raise aspirations, develop employability skills and prepare pupils for life beyond our setting.
A Stable Careers Programme
Careers education is planned, regularly reviewed and embedded throughout school life, helping pupils and families understand the opportunities available.
Exploring Careers and Opportunities
Pupils learn about a wide range of career pathways, local and national labour market information, and how their strengths and interests can shape future choices.
Personalised Guidance and Support
Every pupil receives careers guidance tailored to their individual needs, aspirations and next steps, with support from families and external partners where needed.
